Partial Denture Retention With Mini Implants

To Aid In Partial Denture Retention

When a terminal supporting tooth is lost there is no longer retention for the partial on that side.

There is no support for this side of the partial.

To Aid In Partial Denture Retention

Restoring retention to the right side where a supporting tooth was lost.

Step 1:The area to receive the mini implant is numbed with a local injection.

Step 2:  A small pilot hole is made through the tissue and into the bone.  The Mini implant is then screwed into position.

Step 3: The retentive housing is placed and processed into the partial denture and the back clasp removed.

The mini implant now provides the retention on the right side.  She is now again able to wear her partial denture.  All this was accomplished in a single visit.

Mini implants can help retain and stabilize lower partials that have inadequate posterior support and retention.

This partial rocked when the patient ate or spoke.  This was a direct result of not having posterior retention as well as a broken clasp.

The areas to receive the implants are numbed with a local injection, then the implant sites are prepared and the implants seated.

An impression is then taken to construct a new partial which will incorporate the retentive housings.

This patient’s problems with her lower partial are a thing of the past!
